Mediation for Dads (and Moms and Kids)

Why Mediation Works
When folks are getting divorced, or trying to figure out custody (if you’ve never been married), divorce mediation is often less expensive, and better than court fights with attorneys. Do you really want to spend your summer dreading a costly court battle? Why not try divorce mediation or child custody mediation first? That way you can enjoy Father’s Day with your kids (if you’re a Dad) or a time alone without parenting (if you’re a Mom). Here is a link to my contact form. I usually check it every day. https://resolveconflictnow.net/glen-bickford-quality-mediation-contact-form/
How Much Time Does Mediation Take?
How much time does mediation take? That depends. How well can you get along to discuss things? How many things do you have to discuss? Do you have lots of things to divide. Do you have lots of kids, each with different needs and at different ages? Are you open to suggestions from the mediator, or to have the mediator point out potential problems. If you want to figure out everything yourselves, it often takes more time. But remember, the two of you decide what works or what doesn’t work. Now you can’t always convince the courts to do things your way, but most of the time if you both agree, the courts will go along with what you decide. With help, you can get it done yourselves, and get it done well!
Divorce Mediation Has Been Around a While
Divorce Mediation, and mediation in general, has been in Minnesota fora few decades. Mediation in the courts has been in California and the East Coast even longer. Here’s what Massachusetts says about the advantages of mediation,https://www.mass.gov/info-details/about-mediation. When something has been around a while, it usually works and works well. There have been many changes through the years that make mediation better, easier, and less expensive. People know how to mediate more than ever before. It works!
