There are many divorce mediation stages. Rather than go into each one, I refer you to this site for an explanation. https://www.divorcenet.com/resources/divorce/divorce-mediation/the-stages-mediation.htm.
Remember that according to Minnesota law, you do not need an attorney to be your mediator. Sometimes attorneys as your mediator can be very helpful, but with complex emotional issues it can also help to have someone who is trained and experienced to handle issues, and handle them in many different ways.
Understand that divorce is a difficult emotional process and that each stage may bring a flood of emotions. Expect this and understand that if this happens to you that you are completely normal. One of your biggest relationships in life (if not THE biggest) is breaking up.
